Tina (and her team) are AMAZING!!! Great service and great food. Oh yea, at a great price too :-) They were so accommodating for my wife, myself and our entire (large) group - I'll definitely be coming back again. Whether you're staying at the Holiday Inn or not, this is a not-to-miss spot in Elk Grove!!!!!!

Stayed at the Holiday Inn attached to this restaurant. It was underwhelming for breakfast. Definitely room for improvement.

The convenient thing about this restaurant is that it's attached to Holiday Inn Hotel Chicago-Elk Grove. The restaurant is pretty big. I ended eating my meal in the bar area where everyone was watching Sunday's night football game. The place does have a lot of TV's to watch the game. The food was OK and the menu has plenty of options to choose from(burgers, sandwiches, wraps, pizza, soup, and salads). While the place wasn't busy, the food did take a while to arrived to the table(15-20 mins). The restaurant staff can improve on their service to make their customers experience more pleasurable. I could of read the receipt wrong, but it mention about leaving 18% gratuity. I was surprise that the gratuity was that high. I'm use of gratuity around 10% - 12% range.I don't have an issue of leaving a tip, but 18% for mediocre food is high.

Stuck at the Holiday Inn at a conference with minimal time to go get food??? Then I bet you were in the same position I was last week.....With construction on 83 it nearly made it impossible to go anywhere to get legit food. I got stuck here on Friday. The food was ok. TV's everywhere to keep your pulse on the sporting world. However, the server was pushy as hell. Just made being stuck at a boring conference on a nice Friday afternoon even more miserable.

My hubby and I ate here for lunch (grudgingly, we were at a workshop in the hotel with no time to go elsewhere). But my grilled tilapia and my husbands fish tacos were actually quite good. So after a long day we decided to eat here for dinner and I ordered the fish tacos, which were great again. But my husbands pork chops were down right terrible, he couldn't even eat it. I advise you stick with fish at this place.

I heard that Shelby's was now serving breakfast. So I went with my family and it was awesome. I tried a breakfast nest it was huge, definitely worth the price. My family had the all u can eat pancakes they loved them for $4.95 it was a steal! The service was great. Will definitely be back.

This restaurant has changed names many times over the years, and I've been here many times in its different iterations, but my review of each place would be the same: ok food (standard American bar food here), friendly but sloooooooooooow service. If you're on the clock at work, think twice before you come here, it might take a few hours.

Yikes. Let me start by saying that all the food we ordered was very good, but with that out of the way. So much else was bad. There were a bunch of people at the bar and like 4 tables to be waited on. Our waitress would vanish into thin air for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. We got our check and it was about a half hour before we were swiped and signed and ready to go. I will say however that she was very nice and friendly. So it wasn't like she was a terrible waitress we just couldn't find her most of the time. We had our check split and I was somehow charged 3 times in 3 different amounts. They're all pending so I can't wait to see how that all shakes out. Before this was Shelby Campbell's it was Old Chicago, who prided themselves on their beer selection and care. Shelby's was still serving New Belgium's Spring seasonal which doesn't bode well for how much beer they actually go through. We were there on Friday night and the place was pretty much dead. Which is crazy since its attached to a Holiday Inn. I guess even the guests don't want to venture in there. Sadly, I don't think I'll be back.

Service is pretty good and so is the food. The turkey burger is tasty served with your traditional frieds, not the skinny ones which I hate. Another good dish to try is the Cobb salad, the wings (huge and crispy) as well as the French onion soup. They also serve breakfast for the hotel guests and priced right for visitors. I also had the ribs and Bavarian pretzels which I wasn't as crazy about but filled my belly for the night. When I return and stay at the hotel I will visit this restaurant again. Well worth the visit for the price and location.

Totally agree with Paul M. Weird, aloof staff. I'd say the bar service could best be described as 'unfriendly'. Breakfast service was indifferent. So much potential - there is a great beer selection and the brick interior gives it a great atmosphere. But the confounding service combined with the fruit fly infestation got the message across... They don't want you here.

Real bad..I don't mind waiting for lunch but if you sit for forty minutes in an empty place and literally no food is coming out of the kitchen it's basically a waste of time. Plus staff is kind of aloof, weird vibe A round on the house would've brought it to 1.5 stars. This place sucks stay away..you will regret being here

Ugh... terrible service at this place! A large group of us went here for a Paint Nite event. The event started at 5 p.m. on a Saturday night and the place was nearly empty except for the Paint Nite group that was off in a separate room. We stood at the bar for a good 5-10 minutes without so much as an acknowledgement from the bartender. We gave up and took our seats, promised that the group would have its own server. We did... eventually. One lady was assigned to our entire room (maybe 30 painters?) The food we ordered was actually pretty good but the service truly sucked. This place is NOT recommended.

I was told that the management and food menu changed a few months ago. Ever since then, the food is truly outstanding! Much better food then you would assume would be there. The prices are decent and they offer many food options. Lots of TV's, always plays the Hawks and Bulls games, Gaming Area off to the side, large place, outdoor patio. Why the missing star? Service can be very slow at times. Sometimes when it's not even busy. I have been there about 8-10 times and I'd say service was slow about 6 of those times. They could improve on that, but the food is great!

Nice sports bar themed place on route 83 in Elk Grove Village. I used to like to come here for lunch every now and then when I was working on a consulting assignment in nearby Arlington Heights. Food, service, and beer were always good... plus I could always pick up a free USA Today in the lobby of the adjoining hotel They remodeled a few years ago and added a few nice local touches. Good place... I'll return if I'm ever in the area.

This place is the only joint in the area that offers a casual dining experience, unfortunately. It is a good sized place that draws people who look like they could be from the Southwest burbs. The menu is the standard salads, burgers, sandwiches and a few entrees. Food was adequate for this type of establishment and the service was passable. It is a good place to go if you want to just hang out and dine and feel no need to impress anyone.

This restaurant has quite literally the worst service I think I have ever witnessed. My girlfriends and I did a 'paint night' in a separate room off to the side. We got there early and went to the bar to get some drinks. The place was pretty much empty with only 2 guys eating down the bar and 1 table in the restaurant. There were 5 people in my group standing up by the bar waiting for the bartender and he was a mess. He took drink orders one by one...Taking the order, going to get the drink, taking a moment to wash a dish, coming back with the drink, taking the money, going to the register, bringing back change, etc. We all ordered the exact same glass of wine and he continued to go one at a time - I guess I can look past that, maybe hes new but he literally kept stopping and washing dishes in between orders too, as if he needed a break. It was rude and we were all annoyed. Once we all got our drinks we settled in the side room. We were delighted to see there was a server designated for the room -- maybe now we would get service! She seemed attentive for like a minute. My table ordered a glass of Merlot, a beer, a water, and an appetizer (chips and dip). She brought back the water and beer but not the wine, when asked she said it would be on its way. 25 minutes later she hadn't come back - my friend saw her busing a table so she went to ask her if she could get her glass of wine. The server said they were out of Merlot and then asked if she wanted something else - this to me is absurd. If you're out of something you should have told us when you brought the order not made her wait and hunt you down. So she said any red you have will work and the server said she would bring it over. About 20 more minutes go by, our painting session is nearly over and she still doesn't have her wine and we never got our chips and dip. I find another server and ask her about it, the appetizer was never put in and my friends red wine was sitting at the bar waiting to be picked up this whole time. Bless that servers heart she gave me the wine and said she'd take care of the appetizer for us. It was great they covered the our chips and dip because I surely would never order it again nor want to pay for it. One of the three dips was literally just a bowl of melted butter...it was disgusting. The pita was good (but how can you mess up pita) with a bland hummus, and also a weird dip that I wouldn't even know how to describe. We had planned on all grabbing dinner once our painting session ended, but it was clear we were not eating here due to the appetizer and terrible service. And it is safe to say I will never be back to this establishment.

Saturday early evening...killing time before picking up my brother from O'Hare. Can't say much about the drinks, but I ordered the Chicken Caesar salad, and was not disappointed. Good size, just the right amount dressing. The service was a bit spotty, which ruined the "first time" experience. Overall, I would give it another shot. Just a few kinks to work out, but it shows promise.

Absolutely terrible. I proceeded to order food online for carryout through grubhub. I received an email stating that our order would be ready in about 20 mins. I show up a few mins early to find out that they don't allow online orders from grubhub and the menu on there wasn't even the correct menu. Place was absolutely dead and the customer service was horrific and all the workers had that fake sincere sound in their voice. Definitely will never go back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I am happy to write about my amazing experience at Shelby Campbell's Almost Famous today as a first-time customer! I have to admit that I was skeptical when my sister told me that she wanted to take me to lunch at a hotel restaurant. When I walked in, I could see why she liked it. The atmosphere there is great- a sports bar without being overly in-your-face about it. It would be a great place to catch a game or just to have dinner with the family. The menu has a lot of choices, all of which sound delicious and were reasonably priced. I went with the Tequila Lime Shrimp Salad and my sister had the Fish Tacos. Both of these dishes were fantastic, but I cannot write this review without talking about the shrimp in my salad. I am not over-exaggerating when I say that this shrimp was the BEST shrimp I have ever had in my life! If there were just skewers of these shrimp on the menu, I would order them over and over! The seasoning on them was amazing, and they definitely didn't skimp- 6 jumbo shrimp on the skewer. The salad itself was great, but those shrimp were definitely the star! Our service was also wonderful, with our waitress checking on us multiple times and making sure we were satisfied with our meals (we were!). I will definitely be coming back here, especially when there's a game on... and so that I can get more of those shrimp!

Spent two evenings here during a conference and had a great time both nights. I only ate once - the turkey burger was absolutely delicious. Guy the bartender is professional but super friendly, as is the rest of the staff. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 only because, well, it's bar food. But the atmosphere was great and the staff was fun even when we loaded them up with a bunch of conference attendees.

Food was great I give it an A. Service I give a D+ the 2 bartenders and manager were to busy talking about their personal lives to see that we sat down at the bar, and after seeing us they needed to finish there conversation. Sanitation was an F- I had a couple of drinks and then saw the bartender take a customers glass half full of ice and dip the cup into the ice bin to top it off. I couldn't believe my eyes I watched and she did it again. I was done drinking after that. Then they took the metal beer buckets that customers touch and are never washed and dipped that in the ice bin too. If that is how disgusting they are in front of the customers I hate to see it behind closed doors. Take your money else where.

Legit Babybacks...Fall off the bone. Just a tip, add a little more seasoning to the dry rub.

Great place to drink, especially if you're from out of town and staying at connected Holiday Inn. Food is average bar food at best-taste so so, but large quantities. Servcie is usually pretty good especially from bar maids. Close early, like 11PM. Your taste buds won't be impressed, but you won't go hungry.

Shelby Campbell's motto is "Almost Famous," as in they're "Almost" a great place to visit. They do have great food and the best beer selection for 10 miles. About 20 beers on tap, and dozens more in bottles. The bar looks wonderful too. The tap wall is clean and sharp. Brick and dark wood mixed with the brass splash-back of the tap wall gives it a nice "homey" feel. The liquor is delightfully lit from below, appearing as a colorful glass sculpture. The bottles and cans are displayed in two 8" tall lit glass coolers on either side of the tap wall. The pizza was amazing. "The Stacker" was loaded with cheese, delicious and very filling. I got two meals out of the "Individual" size. The burgers are also amazing. I recommend the Fire Burger if you like spicy or the Early Riser if you like the idea of an egg on your burger (Try it. It's amazing!). The menu is quite large. It's a good place for groups as there will be something for everyone, including vegetarians. The biggest drawback is the service. There are two bartenders, both of which seem to spend most of their time chatting up their regulars. I took a date there once and the table service was equally slow. Be prepared to wait a while before your served, and wait again for refills, and wait again to pay, then wait again to get your card back. Don't get me wrong they're all very nice, friendly people, but I can't imagine what takes them so long for each step of the dining/drinking experience.

One star for their fish tacos. The worst management / service ever. I was there 3 times due to my seminars. The wait is too long. Both two times I waited 40 minutes for the tea and a tacos. I choose the restaurant thinking it would be much faster to eat having just 1 hour lunch break it's better not to leave facility. What a mistake. Last time was the last straw, i would never go back there again. I order a tea, cup of soup and a sandwich. Nobody showed up for a 40 minutes, than the waiter comes up with a tea and soup and apology about sandwich not ready yet. That did it. I told him I can not accept that and call for manager. She was nice and apologetic. I told her the restaurant it's bad organized, it should not take 40 minutes to bring me some hot water and soup, it is outrageus I am waiting all this time for a simple stuff and than I have to shovel it all up in 10 minutes I have left of my lunch. It is riducules. They lost me as a customer.

Food was not good at all. I got the Italian sausage and beef sandwich with a side of cole slaw. Everything was bland , no flavor to the beef. The sausage was so bad I thought the meat was rotten. The slaw had no taste to it, not even slightly tangy. The fries were the worst I've even eaten. Soggy and under cooked. Just a terrible meal.

  • JoE M.

There's barely anybody in the place on a Friday, NO reason for the waitress not to check in with our table. Feel like I've never really had good service here even when it was Old Chicago. Food is decent, but not good enough to make up for the service. Coming here will be a last resort, instead of a preference, with it being right down the street for me and my friends. AND to top it off, no toilet paper in the bathroom...at all! C'mon!

the tilapia fish tacos were excellent! usually hotel restaurants are mediocre , I was shocked at how good my lunch here today was!!! Friendly, efficient servers. a very nice, clean place. 30 some odd beers on tap is a big plus. definitely a sports bar type of environment

    (3)
  • Gail C.

Mona, Mona,Mona... Our wait staff's name was Mona. She was excellent! Food pretty par for a sport's bar type of thing. Which in my case means: Good. One of the good things there was the 1.95 side salad you can get. It was a decent sized salad and they didn't skimp on the dressing. Will I come back? Def! They have beer on tap!

Went for lunch. Waitress was great, food was flat. Unlikely to return. Ordered the special (goat cheese, chicken, avicatto, on rye) and surprisingly it didn't really taste like much of anything. Kettle chips were good texture, didn't taste like anything. Friend had a burger, but was also disappointed in the lack of flavor.

I came in on a Sunday around 4/29/2012 around 6, although there were a total of 3 people in the bar it took 10 minutes to get a beer as the bartender chick paid more attention to polishing bottles and her side duties then customers, it took 40 minutes to get my medium steak that showed up past well done, but being that I hadn't had breakfast or lunch I ate it rather than wait another 40 minutes, and that is because the other 2 people in the bar had their food when I came in, had I not been staying in the hotel I would probably never have returned..... Round 2 Monday night, the bar was live and surprisingly good service, American Nachos are big enough to feed a Somali village. But over all, really cool atmosphere, and so far ok food.

The hostess was terse. Our waitress was good. The bar has a good ambiance and great TV's. However, I was disappointed in the food. Chicken wings were tough with lumpy teriyaki sauce. The pulled pork was average as was the apple strudel. My hamburger was okay but though this place is very close to home ,I see no reason to go back.

Was disappointed to see Old Chicago Pizza gone, but decided to give this place a try. Bad decision. Horrible service. We waited 10 min just to get drinks. Menu sounded good, but food was disgusting. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It had a weird acidic taste to it. He couldn't eat pulled pork again for a while. We also got the American nachos and it was disgusting. overcooked. My buffalo chicken sandwich was a disaster. the bread was stale! we waited so long for everything. never going back again. i don't think anyone should eat here.

I give this place a lot of credit... being that it's in a hotel, you'd expect really pricy food. It's very reasonably priced. I went in on a Saturday night, my Mom was staying at the hotel, and we decided to meet up and have a few drinks... $3 Margaritas (strong btw) were on special (actually, all well drinks), After a few I was good to go. My boyfriend is a Corona guy, his was $4, which is slightly pricy but again for a hotel restaurant, that's cheap. The artichoke dip was YUMMMMMMM!!!! On Fridays they have Corona buckets for $12. The atmosphere was really fun, bartenders and waiters all very friendly. We shot a few rounds of pool, turned out to be a really fun night. The over all feel of the place is just laid back... sports are flooding the tv's ofcourse. My mom ate there the day before and I got some mostaccoli left overs early that afternoon, it was delish. I recommend this place, I'm not really understanding why their rating is so low. I went back for a drink at the bar there on Sunday, again, a nice bartender and a stiff drink. Also ordered a pizza to go, which was $10 for a huge pizza & a 1 liter soda to go. Fed 3 adults and 2 kids... I'd say thats a pretty big pizza. Pizza coulda been better, but it wasn't horrible either. I will be back Shelby... your daily specials linger in my mind.

Great place for me since I was staying at the Holiday Inn next door. The place is huge and with the great spring weather it was nice to sit out on the patio and watch the planes land. All the service from the staff was great and the food was ok for bar food. Will absolutely be back next time I'm in Chicago.

  • Scott D.

As a restaurant, Shelby Campbell's is just average. The mini-sliders are good, as are a few other odds and ends on the menu. The things that makes the place really shine are the staff and the beer selection. They have 32 beers on tap, and a good number more in bottles. Many of them are local and microbrews. The other area where they shine is the staff. Friendly, attentive and courteous. If you're looking for a hotel with a decent bar/restaurant to relax in after a long day, this is a good match.

Not bad considering it's located in an idustrial area, next to hotel....but it works. This is a really nice spot to hangout. The food is kinda 50/50 taste wise, but prices are very reasonable. Come on by and check it out if you're in the area.

I was in town for business and arrived late in the evening. Went to the hotel to check in and the Shelby Campbell's was attached so I thought I would give it a try. The waitress was good. The food was well prepared and a good portion size. It was a little pricey for the food and atmosphere but I can't complain too much. I had a bacon cheddar burger with chips and a caesar salad. I enjoyed the salad more than the burger.
